Chronicle of Guilty Verdicts for Hate Motivated Violence. 2009.

We publish the list of the guilty verdicts for violence issued in Russia in 2009 in which the hate motive was officially recognized. The list was made on the basis of the SOVA Center daily monitoring. In all, in 2009, we registered 44 guilty verdicts in 25 regions of Russia. (Some links are in Russian).

The first part of 2009, Khabarovsk region. A verdict issued for a racist attack on a non-slavic looking person in 2008. One person convicted.

January, 2009, Meshovsk, Kaluga Region. A verdict issued for an attack on India citizen. Two persons convicted.

January, 12, 2009, St. Petersburg. A verdict issued for several explosions organized by neo-Nazi (act was qualified as terrorism). 3 persons convicted, one acquitted.

January, 26, 2009, Khabarovsk. A verdict issued for a racist murder of Azerbaijan citizen. Two persons convicted.

February, 25, 2009, Vladimir region. A verdict issued for an attack on Tadjik citizens in May, 2008. One person convicted.

February, 27, 2009, Kaluga. A verdict issued for a murder of Uzbek citizen in August, 2008. 5 persons convicted.

March, 2009, Kirov. A verdict issued for a series of attacks (with murders) on homeless persons in May, 2008. 2 persons convicted.

March, 2009, Tolyatti, Samara region. A verdict issued for an attack on antifascists in September, 2008. 6 persons convicted.

March, 2009, Novocheboksarsk, Chuvash Republik. A verdict issued for a local neo-Nazi group ( attacks, graffito and etc.). 7 persons convicted.

March, 2009, Moscow. A verdict issued for an attack on a non-slavic looking person in 2008. Two persons convicted.

April, 2009, Moscow. A verdict issued for a series of attacks on non-slavic looking persons in 2008. 2 persons convicted.

May, 2009, Republic of Adygeya. A verdict issued for an attack of a militia man on a group of an Armenia man in 2008. One persons convicted.

May, 2009, Arzamas, Nizhny Novgorod region. A verdict issued for an attack on Armenia man in 2008. 2 persons convicted.

May, 2009, Kursk. A verdict issued for a series of racist attacks in 2007 and 2008. Two persons convicted.

May, 26, 2009, Izhevsk. A verdict issued for an attack on antifa-girl in January, 2009. One person convicted.

May, 2009. Moscow. A verdict issued for an attack on a Tadjikistan man in 2008. 5 persons convicted (Tabachkov's group).

May, 2009, Belgorod. A verdict issued for an attack on Senegal citizen in December, 2008. 2 persons convicted.

June, 3, Krasnoyarsk. A verdict issued for a racist fight in 2007. One person convicted.

June, 2009, Novosibirsk A verdict issued for the leader of the group of nazi-skinheads in Novosibirsk. One person convicted to coersive treatment.

June, 11, 2009, Kostroma. A verdict issued for an attack on a punk in January, 2009. One person convicted.

June, 18, 2009, Moscow. A verdict issued for an attack on Dagestan men (with murder) in June 2007. 6 persons convicted ("Pochukaev's group").

June, 22, 2009, Barnaul, Altai Territory. A verdict issued for a series of attacks and murders in 2007. 7 persons convicted ("Volki Odina", "Odin's wolves").

June, 26, 2009, Novosibirsk. A verdict issued for a murder of Turkey citizen in january, 2008. One person convicted, 3 persons acquitted.

July, 2009, Chudovo, Novgorod region. A verdict issued for an attack on ethnical Korean in March, 2009. One person convicted.

July, 2009, Voronezh. A verdict for an attack on Azerbaidjan man in 2007. One person convicted.

June, 30, 2009, Nizhny Novgorod. A verdict issued for a series of attacks on people from Uzbekistan in 2007. 4 persons convicted.

July, 15, 2009, Tver. A verdict issued for a murder of people from Central Asia in 2005. One person convicted.

August, 2009, Yekaterinburg. A verdict issued for an attack on a man from Tadjikistan in March, 2009. One person convicted.

August, 7, 2009, Voronezh. A verdict issued for an attack on a man from Armenia in 2008. 4 persons convicted, 3 of whom acquitted for reconciliation of the parties in court.

August, 17, 2009, Volgograd. A verdict issued for an attack on gypsy kiosques in 2006 (with a murder) . 9 persons convicted.

August, 31, 2009, St. Petersburg. A verdict issued for a murder of a man, whom neo-Nazi picked for an antifascists in April, 2008. One person convicted.

September, 17, 2009, Nizhny Novgorod. A verdict issued for an attack on antifascists in April, 2009. 2 persons convicted.

September, 22, 2009, Moscow. A verdict issued for a series of neo-Nazi attacks and murders. 10 persons convicted (the Zhikhareva-Shutko group).

September, 22, 2009, Nizhny Novgorod. A verdict issued for a murder of a man from Tadjikistan in September, 2008. 5 persons convicted.

October, 2009, Orenburg. A verdict issued for a murder of a man from Uzbekistan in 2007. 5 persons convicted.

October, 2, 2009, Lukhovicy, Moscow region. A verdict issued for an attack on Uzbekistan citizens in July, 2009. The case dismissed in court for reconciliation of the parties.

October, 8, 2009, Moscow. A verdict issued for an attack on slavic-looking people in May, 2008. 6 persons convicted (the "Black Hawks" group).

October, 13, 2009, Moscow. A verdict issued for a series of racist murders and attacks. 4 persons convicted (a part of the Ryno-Skachevsky group).

November, 2009, Domodedovo, Moscow region. A verdict issued for a murder of a man from Uzbekistan in April, 2009. One person convicted.

November, 2009, Dolgoproudny, Moscow region. A verdict issued for an attack and threats of homicide to slavic-looking people in February, 2009. 2 persons convicted.

November, 24, 2009, Voronezh. A verdict issued for a murder of a teenager in March, 2008. 5 persons convicted.

December, 7, 2009, St. Petersburg. A verdict issued for an attack on people from Dagestan in January, 2009. 2 persons convicted.

December, 15, 2009, Chelyabinsk. A verdict issued for a series of crimes comitted based on national hate motive. 4 persons convicted, all of them got suspended sentence.

December, 16, 2009, Novosibirsk. A verdict issued for a murder of Tadjikistan citizen in October, 2008. 5 persons convicted.
