On August 20, 2008, Oleg Sym, a Russian national of Korean origin and student of the Tula State University, was beaten.

According to the victim, he was approached at the bus stop by one man with his head shaved, who tried to provoke a fight. When Sym tried to run away, five or six more men attacked him.

The attack was very rapid: after striking Sym several times with the emergency hammer available in busses for breaking the windows in case of an accident, the attackers ran away.

A passer-by who gave Sym the first aid declared the victim's face was covered in blood, but, fortunately, his bones were not broken.
