On July 8, 2025, The Russia Program at George Washington University published an article by Alexander Verkhovsky titled “Russia's Politicized Law Enforcement and its Evolution.”
The article focuses on anti-extremist law enforcement and the application of related norms, but briefly refers to other segments of politicized law enforcement. The author analyzes the data from 2019 to 2024 and offers hypotheses regarding shifts in the authorities’ law enforcement priorities in this area.
The text of the article is available on The Russia Program's website, both for online reading and as a downloadable PDF.
