A neo-nazi leader detention in Moscow

July 24, 2006, in Moscow, Dmitry Demushkin, the leader of an extreme rightwing neonazi group called "Slavyansky Sojuz" (or SS) was detained for several hours.

His apartment was searched and his notebook and some other materials were withdrawn by the police. According to the information on the rightwing internet resources, his detention is related to a mosque explosion in a Moscow region town Yahroma in the early of July.

As a result of the explosion, the mosque was seriously damaged, the panes in the neighborhood were smashed, but reportedly, there were no victims.

According to rightwing sites, SS activists have been exposed to "mass searches" in many other Russian cities and towns.

Demushkin says, that he is going to face an accusation of creation of an extremist and criminal group. His clothes, which was seized by the police, have been sent to undergo an examination.
